Dutch Heavy Metal Legacy Reborn
MassattacK is a Heavy Metal powerhouse from Noordwijk, Zuid‑Holland — forged in 1982 by Ed Berrevoets, Spencer van de Wiel, and Michel Roerdink. From day one, the band refused to play it safe. They even became the first band ever to hit the stage at SCUM in Katwijk, setting the tone for their unstoppable drive.
With a flood of new material and the arrival of drummer Arie Groenewoud, MassattacK recorded their 1985 demo. Their track SUICIDE blasted onto the national radar when it was crowned Demo of the Week on Vara’s Vuurwerk in February 1987. Powered by their anthem Johnnie Walker, the band carved out a fierce reputation throughout the 80s — until their first chapter closed in 1988.
The 90s sparked a new era. MassattacK returned with Dennis de Mey on vocals, Jack van Duin on bass, and Ramfis Adrichem as second guitarist. Though this lineup lived more in the underground, they recorded a fresh demo and captured Circle of Madness in the studio — complete with a video clip still available on the band’s YouTube channel. In 1996, the second pause began.
But legends don’t stay silent. Four decades after its creation, the original demo has resurfaced. Headbangers Records, driven by Marco van Empel, has officially released the long‑lost recording on CD. To mark the occasion, an AI‑powered video clip was created using authentic 80s photos — now streaming on the MassattacK YouTube channel.
And now, the final chapter begins. In 2026, MassattacK returns for their ultimate ATTACK. The current lineup:
- Dennis de Mey – Vocals
- Jaco Voorzaat – Bass
- Arie Groenewoud – Drums
- Ramfis Adrichem – Guitar
- Michel Roerdink – Lead Guitar and the driving force behind MassattacK for over four decades
MassattacK’s legacy spans generations, lineups, and eras — and it’s louder, heavier, and more alive than ever.
